Daan Six received his master’s degree in commercial engineering in 2004 from the University of Antwerp, Antwerp, Belgium. Since 2008, he is working for EnergyVille within the Energy Technology department of the Flemish Institute for Technological Research (VITO) Belgium.
After conducting research in the field of electricity markets and business modelling for innovative energy technologies, he became project manager smart grids in 2009, responsible for both research on electrical storage and energy markets.
He is currently supervising the EnergyVille research domain on energy market design and modelling, and advanced techno-economic business case assessments for innovative energy technologies in a smart grid context. He is personally involved in several (inter)national research and demonstration projects, EU policy advice assignments, as well as industrial contract research on smart grids, demand response and renewable energy integration, a.o. Linear, ADDRESS FP7, SmartNet and EvolvDSO.
